A journey of faith and healing | You can do hard things!

You Can Do Hard Things

You Can Do Hard Things

Some days, getting out of bed feels like climbing a mountain with no summit in sight. Chronic illness has a way of turning ordinary tasks into extraordinary challenges. The things others may do without thinking—walking across a room, focusing through the fog, making plans without hesitation—can feel heavy, unpredictable, and sometimes overwhelming.

If you’re living in that space, I want to remind you of something simple but powerful: you can do hard things.

Not because you always feel strong. Not because it’s easy. But because God meets you right in the middle of your weakness.

Chronic illness teaches you a different kind of strength. It’s not loud or flashy. It doesn’t always look like victory in the way the world defines it. Sometimes it looks like showing up when your body wants to shut down. Sometimes it’s choosing hope when discouragement feels more reasonable. Sometimes it’s whispering a prayer when you don’t have the energy for anything more.

That kind of strength is sacred.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Faith doesn’t always remove the hard things, but it transforms how you walk through them. It reminds you that you are not alone in your pain, your waiting, or your wondering. God sees every unseen battle. He understands every limitation. And His grace meets you—again and again—right where you are.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)

There will be days when your capacity is smaller than you’d like. Days when you have to cancel plans, rest more, or simply breathe your way through the moment. Those days are not failures. They are invitations to lean deeper into God’s strength instead of your own.

You are not falling behind. You are moving at the pace grace has set for you.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14)

And in that space, something beautiful is happening. Your perseverance is being shaped. Your faith is being refined. Your dependence on God is growing roots that run deep—far deeper than circumstances can shake.

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)

Doing hard things doesn’t always mean pushing through at full speed. Sometimes it means resting without guilt. Trusting without answers. Believing that even here—especially here—God is still working.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

So if today feels heavy, take it one step at a time. One prayer at a time. One breath at a time.

You don’t have to do everything. You just have to take the next faithful step.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

And that is more than enough.

Because with God, even your hardest days are held, your weakest moments are covered in grace, and your story is still being written with purpose.

You can do hard things—not perfectly, not effortlessly—but faithfully.

And that matters more than you know.
