There are days when opening my eyes feels like a mountain to climb. Days when my body will not cooperate, my energy levels are depleted before the day even gets started, and the weight of chronic illness is heavier than I care to admit. In the stillness of those hard days, God whispers, “I’m still here.”
Living with chronic illness isn’t just about managing symptoms (although that is a big part of it), it’s a faith journey for me. It’s learning to trust God when healing hasn’t come. It’s choosing to believe He is still good, even when the pain says otherwise. It’s knowing that weakness does not disqualify us from His plans. It invites His strength to take over.
“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” -Isaiah 40:29
One of the hardest things to navigate is feeling like you’re falling behind, like life is moving forward without you. The truth is, God’s timeline for your life has never been based on the world’s pace. Thank God for that, right? He sees the quiet battles you fight. He honors the courage it takes to keep showing up and being present even in small ways.
There is purpose in this journey. It might not look like what you imagined for your life, but maybe, just maybe it’s even more beautiful. I say that because in this space of brokenness we are becoming more dependent on His grace, more attuned to His presence, and more equipped to comfort others who are hurting.
If you’re walking a similar path as me, know this: you are not alone. God is not disappointed in you. He is walking with you, working through you, and loving you every step of the way. So today, get some rest if you need it. Cry if you need to. Just don’t give up or lose heart. There is still life, purpose, and deep joy to be found even here. Especially here!
PRAYER
God, when my body feels weak and my soul feels tired, please remind me that You are near. Give me the strength I need for today and teach me to lean on Your grace and help me find beauty in the midst of my struggle. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
